IMPORTANT NOTICE TO LICENSEES
CHANGE OF ADDRESS REQUIREMENT

The mission of the Colorado Division of Insurance is consumer protection. In order to pursue this mission, the Division must be able to contact its licensed producers. The Division receives approximately 200 notices monthly from the Post Office that a renewal notice is undeliverable to the address in Division records. When an address is incorrect, this mission becomes impossible.
All licensees must provide a contact address to the Colorado Division of Insurance upon licensure. Renewal notices are sent to the address provided on Division Records.
Please note the following statute and read it carefully:
CRS 10-2-412 - CHANGE OF ADDRESS NOTIFICATION
(1) Individual and insurance agency producer licenses shall inform the commissioner in writing, in a form prescribed by the commissioner, of any change of address within thirty days of the change.
(2) Failure of any licensee to inform the commissioner of any change to the licensee¿s address of record or residence address shall be grounds for the assessment of a penalty.
AS OF AUGUST 1, 2010, THE DIVISION WILL BEGIN IMPOSING A MINIMUM OF A $100 FINE FOR FAILURE OF A PRODUCER TO CHANGE AN ADDRESS WITHIN THIRTY DAYS. AN APPLICABLE SURCHARGE PURSUANT TO §24-34-108(2), C.R.S. (CURRENTLY AT 10% ) WILL ALSO BE IMPOSED. THIS SURCHARGE WILL BE USED TO FUND THE DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A CONSUMER OUTREACH AND EDUCATION PROGRAM. THE DIVISION MAY ALSO IMPOSE OTHER PENALTIES INCLUDING SUSPENSION AND REVOCATION OF THE PRODUCER LICENSE.
